Today we used sidewalk chalk to tell each other the story of The Giving Tree
I found that Deen really enjoyed the story even more because of the change of how it was being told.
We drew the apples on the tree as well as the boat that was made.
Yep, I may not be an artist and yes I draw stick figures but hey, my kid enjoyed it as if I was the illustrator of the book itself. My stick figures made sense to him!
Have any of you tried this? I’d love to see more sidewalk chalk storytelling ideas and pictures!
There will be no posts next week as we are leaving tomorrow for a 7 day holiday by the beach. Take care everyone!
This post is two weeks late but hey, better late than never! We celebrated Eid two weeks ago and although the day was tiring we had a lot of fun!
It was so much fun getting together Aaliya’s outfit. I had the dress but getting matching shoes, jewelry, and a bow was a fun hunt! This is definitely one of the best parts of having a daughter. Aaliya loved her outfit and she would point to it and her jewelry and say “oooooooh…. WOW”. She loves to dress up!
In the evening I just added a long sleeve vest and a three quarter white pants since it started to get a little chilly.
Deen’s favorite part of the day was opening up all his Eid presents. I’ve been trying not to buy Deen every single toy that he asks for since our toy room is so full of toys that I don’t even know how to organise or clean it up.
I know that as parents we want to buy our kids everything they could possibly want, but at the same rate I wonder what we are teaching them by letting them have every single thing they want and then they forget about that toy 2 days later? I want my kids to value their belongings.
He had found a toy that he really liked 4 weeks ago and I thought he would forget about it but nope… Deen has an amazing memory. He would occasionally mention that he still really wants that toy so I went out and bought that for his Eid present.
When he started to tear open the package he was screaming “YES!!! YES MAMA!!! This is what I wanted!!! This is exactly what I wanted!!!”
The look on his face and the excitement was enough to make my heart skip a beat (or maybe a hundred beats). I think the fact that I held the present back and didn’t just buy him every single toy that he wanted really made him appreciate this toy.
Sorry the lighting in my room is really yellow/orange.
All in all a good day full of love and fun!
Oh and yesterday I put Deen in a carrier and I was surprised to find out that he still fits! Yay! I love having my son hugging me tight while he is in one of our carriers.
