Marble Painting Owl

At our play group we created owls by painting with marbles. This is the first time I did marble painting with Aaliya(17 months old). With Deen I did marble painting previously here using different materials and I remember how much he loved shaking his wiggles out.

Just use an empty ice cream container, cut paper to size, drop in a little bit of paint (not too much or else there will be no design, just smudges of paint), throw in the marbles, and shake them around.

When dry glue on feathers and add some eyes. We drew eyes on but you could also use pom poms or googly eyes too!

Deen is 3 years 9 months & Aaliya is 17 months old.

Since Deen started at his Montessori preschool at the beginning of the year I haven’t really participated much in Tot School. I didn’t want to overload him in terms of “work” so I just did more play instead of play with an educational twist behind it.

I started Tot School with Deen this past week and I am so happy to be back at it. We both had a great time doing the activities and I felt as if we bonded so much during this time.  There is so much inspiration to be found on all the link ups for Tot School as well as Carissa’s blog.

I also discovered Confessions of A Homeschooler blog and I think I’m in blog love! I can’t believe that it has taken me so long to find such an incredible blog with the most amazing letter of the week activities and printables out there!

Ok … no more “talking”. Here is what we did this week during Tot School:

Deen did this Shape Fire Truck cut and paste activity. He did not need my help at all during this activity. He knew where every shape went and had fun using the glue stick to place everything correctly.

Then Deen matched counting Bears to their correct Color Matching Tile.

We both made the Letter A using play dough on our play dough letter mat.

Deen and I planted some radishes and  marigold using a kids flower growing kit while Aaliya jumped on her trampoline.

I purchased a Melissa & Doug Cutting Food Box set this week and we are loving it! I can’t believe I waited this long to purchase it. I honestly thought the velcro would be too easy but I tried it myself and it really feels as if you are cutting food (minus the ouchies and boo boo’s kids would get using a real knife.) This product is definitely a must have and I can see us using this for a long time as the quality seems great!

Aaliya is able to use it too although she doesn’t really cut the food, she just pulls them apart and enjoys doing so!

I put Deen’s Toy Story Alien Grab toy on and had Aaliya pick out the Aliens while it was moving. This was definitely challenging for her but in a good way.

We baked Weelicious Sweet Beet Cookies but Aaliya got upset when the dough started sticking to her hand…

Deen on the other hand didn’t mind that at all and really enjoyed rolling the dough and making shapes with me. The cookies turned out yummy.

Here is my favorite picture of Aaliya this week:

The hat and bow she is wearing is sold at my store: Posh LiL’ Diva

Toddler Tuesday: Pasta and An Empty Water Bottle

October 19, 2010

I gave Aaliya a bowl of uncooked pasta, an empty water bottle, and me there to watch that she doesn’t swallow anything and she concentrated on this activity for 30 minutes straight. She loved putting all the pasta pieces into the bottle then closing the lid and shaking it up to hear the musical sound […]

Mama is out with the flu today but that gave me an opportunity to create some printable activities. I have lots of activities planned for the next two weeks and can’t wait to get started once I shake off this flu. I’m hoping its a quick one day bug! I created this cut and paste printable. […]
