Educational Activities

I created a zoo animal themed visual perception activity that can be re-used by laminating or printed once off.

Mom basically places the zoo animals in certain circles and the child can then copy the placement on their own circle mat.

Here I laminated the circle mats and the pieces. I then had Aaliya copy it.

Here I just printed it out and had her glue them in the right places.

To download the printable click here.

If you would like to see a similar activity but for an older child please let me know in the comments section.

Aaliya is 2 years and 2 months old(26 months old)We did the rest of our letter A activities this week.
Carissa’s Tot School Printable Letter A Activities were a big hit!
This was Aaliya’s first time tracing a line and connecting two objects to each other.

She enjoyed erasing the marks more though!
Aaliya is really good with lacing.

I called out shapes to her and she pointed to the right shapes except Crescent and Hexagon. She calls a Diamond, “Like a diamond” because of twinkle twinkle little star.

She loved having her picture taken. She was constantly asking me to take pictures of her.

I cut out the apple coloring pictures and had her match the crayons to the color listed on the apple.

Here she is choosing red from the colors. I was very impressed by this!

On the left picture Aaliya is confirming that she chose the right color… yellow.

Aaliya loves this shapes file folder game. It’s easy for her but she likes calling out the shapes when she places them on the folder.
I can’t remember where I downloaded it from though.

I finally had time to make the Color Wheel Tot Tool. I printed out the pdf and laminated it. I then printed out a second copy, cut out the circles with a hole punch, laminated it and placed them on clothespins.

This was definitely tough for her but she enjoyed the challenge.

I took out a few puzzles and observed Aaliya as she did the puzzles. I was trying to figure out what types of puzzles she can do and what types of puzzles to buy. One piece puzzles like the Winnie The Pooh one above are too easy. She can definitely do a puzzle with multiple pieces.

This was a very enjoyable Tot School week!

Benefits of Building Blocks

Aaliya’s favorite toy right now is definitely her blocks. At 21 months old she can stack up to 9 blocks. It takes a lot of concentration… And when it falls… she giggles. Then she starts again. (My white balance is ALWAYS weird whenever I take pictures in the toy room.) I’ve read somewhere that building blocks […]

Ah! Ants in our rice!

November 24, 2009

During Halloween I purchased some “ants” and used them for this activity. They look SO real though! When my husband came home I put one next to his food… *smiles deviously*… so he suggested that we put one on his mom’s food when we go to eat by her… it should be funny! but anyway.… Deen […]

When I brought the bingo chips and color cards out Deen immediately matched the chips to their colors… smart thinking on his part.Thereafter we played bingo with the color cards… Deen won! Then we did my food cut and paste activity that I put up […]

A Fun Cut and Paste Printable

November 12, 2009
Thumbnail image for A Fun Cut and Paste Printable

This activity was inspired by the Kumon first work books. Deen was doing the cut and paste activities in his Kumon workbook and seemed to really enjoy it. The only problem was that we were getting through the pages really quickly and it would be too expensive to purchase another book. I decided to try […]

I wanted to help Deen learn his colors while still having fun. I do believe in “learning through play” which is when I decided to create a Bingo Colors game. We haven’t had a chance to use it since Deen took an extra long nap today but we will definitely make use of it tomorrow. […]
