At Aaliya’s  playgroup today the kids had a fishing section. This was a hit with every child that was there. Aaliya really enjoyed fishing for the fish and kept telling me, “Mama! Fish running away!”.  It was so cute and the whole concept is so easy to prepare!

All you need to do is use your bath tub, a little inflatable kiddy pool, or a big enough dish that you can add a few fish in. Then hand your child a net of some sort and they will be busy trying to catch the fish.

This is so great for hand eye coordination and uses so many skills… easy for an adult but very difficult for a child. The best part though is that it is FUN FUN FUN for them.  :) That’s all that really matters anyway!

This activity can be enjoyed by my 21 month old and four year old.

At Aaliya’s play group we found this great laundry activity and Aaliya was fully engrossed.

All your child needs to do is to place both sides of velcro together to hang the “laundry” up.

Sound easy? Not quite.

It takes a lot of skills to make this work. Think about it. The child needs to aim each velcro piece from the “laundry” to the velcro on the board.

It is fairly simple to create this activity:

Take a board, paint it or leave it bare, glue on some velcro (the hook side of velcro).

To make the “laundry”:

  • Take some small pieces of fabric or cloth sew the velcro on. (The loop part of the velcro.) You can also hot glue the velcro on if you do not have a sewing machine.

OR

  • Sew some pieces of  “laundry” like this and stuff them.

Hang it up somewhere.

Have your child hang up the “laundry” and watch the determination in their face and hands.

This would be perfect to hang somewhere near your outside laundry area. While mom hangs up her real laundry her toddler can hang up their own “laundry” and feel like mommy’s helper.
