While creating a dramatic play space section in our kid’s playroom, I came across the Melissa and Doug ice cream cart toy. I was a little unsure whether it was worth the price, but the reviews were so favorable! After thinking about it for a few weeks, I decided to go for it.

The idea of this ice cream cart toy is that it LOOKS like an ice cream stand with a freezer. Children can open the freezer door and pretend to freeze imaginary ice cream, scoop it into cones or cups, add toppings, and hand out fictitious orders.

The possibilities are endless with what your kids imagination can come up with.

It was easy to put togetehr and has been center stage in many pretend play games amongst my children.

The most pleasant surprise was that my 8-year-old daughter’s friends have all loved coming over to play. I thought it was more suited to my 4-year-old (as well as 2 and 3-year-olds). Surprisingly, kids up until 9-year-olds were playing with it too!

My children love the bell! We love the wooden ice cream toy pieces, and their high quality means they will last for years.

Also, it is a 2 in 1 play structure. That means it’s not just an ice cream cart; it’s also a hot dog stand.

Since the playset includes both an ice cream and hot dog stand, children can easily change it themselves, or like we do when we do toy rotation, you can have it set as an ice cream cart toy sometimes, and other times as a sweets art.
To change the ice cream cart into a hot dog stand, all a child needs to do is flip the awning and change out the menu. Then children can order pretzels instead of popsicles.

On the ice cream stand side: Mommy or other ‘customers’ can order popsicles, ice cream in a cup, ice cream in a cone, and even ice cream with toppings.

On the hot dog stand side: also known as the snack cart side, customers can order a hot dog with toppings.

After trying the Melissa and Doug Wooden Snacks and Sweets Food Car, I am excited to report that I am delighted with this toy. In my opinion, it is one of the best toddler toys.
