Materials needed: Water spray bottle, tissue paper cut up into small pieces, paper… and snacks are always welcome 🙂
Give the paper 2 light sprays then start sticking the tissue paper on the paper in any design….
When you are happy with your design spray your paper a few times till the tissue paper is pretty wet (being careful not to misplace your tissue paper)
When it is dry peel off the tissue paper. (Great for pincer grasp)
I don’t think we sprayed the red enough since it didn’t transfer much and I’d like to try this again with cardstock so we can make the paper more wet.
Deen then wanted to add cut pieces to his design.
We ended this activity by rolling some playdough and practicing our cutting skills.
Deen has learned to hold a scissor better now so I hope to do more cutting activities with him soon.
(I see that in the above picture his finger is in the wrong spot but he only did that during this picture, the rest of the time he held it correctly)
I’d like to do this activity again and ask him to stay within a given picture (like a butterfly or a fish). I think it will look really pretty.
Have you done a tissue paper color transfer activity? I’d love to see it so we can get some ideas on how to revisit it… please leave a link in the comments section if you have.
Ive never seen this idea! very creative!
This looks like a great idea…must invest in a spray bottle…
Am interested in how u teach to hold a scissors…never really found out…Elijah uses his thumb and middle finger in the holes with the index finger as his "steering finger"
We're going to have to try this! We've been getting in more spray bottle time by using it to erase a chalkboard. Glad you had a fun vacation! Thanks for posting the pictures!
cute idea! Thanks for sharing!
This looks like so much fun! Emily loves any activity involving scissors and/or glue, so I know she would love this.
Great idea for the tissue paper – I may have to borrow your idea for my toddler. He would love the spray bottle! You have some great ideas mama! š
cutting has been our problem too, I never thought of using play dough! Thanks
