Being a mom who does most of her work online, I’m a fan of children and toddlers having access to this growing technology world.. I also understand that this has to be done with guidelines. If done correctly, technology and gadgets can offer a wide variety of learning opportunities for children.
Since I spend a lot of time online working, I wanted to make certain that our kids had the same opportunities to stay current on technology while also providing them with a tablet that they can grow with as well. I’m so excited to say that the Amazon Fire Kids Edition Tablet 10 is a favorite in our household. Not only does it allow my children to learn and play, it also still gives me control over what they’re able to access and do as well.

7 Reasons Why the Amazon Fire Kids Edition Tablet is a Must-Have for your Toddler
While there are so many reasons why we love the Amazon Fire Kids Edition Tablet for each of our kids in different ways, here are the top 7 reasons I think you would love it too.
-
It comes with 1 year of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited
We LOVE the Amazon FreeTime Unlimited. FreeTime Unlimited gives your child access to a large pool of books, audiobooks, apps and tv shows. Once your year is up, it’s definitely worth subscribing to. As per school requirements, my children need to read at least 15-30 minutes a day. That means that they go through books faster than I can get to the library. I like that they have access to so many books! This is one of the main reasons why the device forms a major part of our bedtime routine.

The Amazon Fire Kids Edition Tablet grows with your child and adapts to their age and ability
This is the best. Not only does the tablet offer a ton of learning activities and apps for toddlers, it grows with them too. This means that I won’t have to worry about spending more money to buy another tablet just a few years down the road. To me, that’s huge! As they get older, they will get access to different apps and books that will still stimulate their minds and provide more challenge.

The parental controls allow me to have control
While I “might” always like to be in control, the parental app on the Amazon Kids Tablet gives me access and the ability to do just that. I can literally set screen time rules and limitations easily so that I monitor when it works and when it doesn’t. Plus, I can even schedule it to allow the use of games to open up only after the children get done with their reading! How great is that?

Setting time limits is now controlled by the tablet
We’ve probably all battled the “time limits aren’t fair” excuse a time or two. But with the Amazon Fire Kids Edition Tablet 10, the tablet is the one that actually turns off the tablet and keeps it off until more screen time is earned. Even though the time limits are set by me, their enforced by the tablet. Devices can be very addictive to children, especially when they have access to an unlimited amount of apps. That’s why having the bedtime setting feature allows the device to turn off at a pre-determined time too. By having this enforced by the app rather than me, there’s no space for, “Mom please can I have 5 more minutes?”

It’s great for travel!
As you may have noticed this year, we’ve traveled A LOT. From road trips to Mammoth Lakes and Las Vegas to international flights to Toronto Canada, Turks and Caicos in Providenciales, South Africa and an upcoming national trip to Orlando Florida… the Amazon Fire Kids Edition tablet goes with us everywhere! We added a memory card so that we could download more games, apps and books. My kids load up on apps and books before we leave and they use the device on airplanes, cars and during some relaxing downtime. (Like when they wake up SUPER early while mom and dad are still sleeping.) Read my family road trip tips to see how to make your next road trip go by more smoothly.

It’s made to outlast the drops and falls that will happen
Because we are taking the device with us everywhere, let’s face it. Kids sometimes drop and break things (truthfully, I still drop my phone as an adult!) Amazon knows this and created a tablet that is not only lightweight but also comes with a 2 year worry-free guarantee too. This means that if it does get dropped, stepped on, or sat on, you can rest easy knowing that it’s going to be covered.

The Amazon kids edition tablet 10 is full of awesome learning apps
I’m also love all the learning apps that can be used on this tablet. There are so many to choose from we literally haven’t even tried out half of them. Plus, they’re age-appropriate foreach child so that they can maneuver and play on their own. Not only does this build confidence but it teaches them critical thinking and analytical skills as well. See here why the Amazon Fire Kids Edition tablet has become our favorite learning device.
I also love that when my children are reading books and come across a word that they may not know, the book will already have a little arrow above the word with a simple definition!

The Parent Dashboard is WONDERFUL!
Not only does the parent dashboard give me a summary of how much time my children spent reading books and playing on apps for the last 7 days, it also gives me access to discussion questions to ask my children after they read books. This is great for reading comprehension and lunch or dinner table conversation ideas.

The creative options are endless on this tablet
While this is technically an electronic device, it’s also extremely versatile as well. Children can also draw, color, play apps, read books, be read to, listen to audiobooks and so much more – all on the Amazon Fire Kids Edition Tablet 10. We even use the Amazon Fire Kids Edition tablet for family time.
