As the beautiful colors of fall slowly start creeping through the leaves and trees of our neighborhood, we are engulfed by all the potential fun fall themed activities. While California seems to be having a very hot fall season, that isn’t going to stop us from soaking in every bit of the fall color themed clothing in our closets and the enthusiasm for visiting as many of our local pumpkin patches as we can. The Tanaka Farms Irvine pumpkin patch is located in Orange County and is a lot of fun! I loved to capture the fun that was playing within the sun lined bushes.
We are also always looking for fun things to do in Irvine with kids… We visited the Tanaka Farms Pumpkin Patch on Thursday afternoon and the kids had a lot of fun. I love that there was a variety of things to do that made this day at the pumpkin patch exciting.

Due to the demand that the Tanaka Farms Irvine Pumpkin Patch has received, they have implemented a few rules and limited entrance availability during the weekends. You can check out their Facebook page to get more information and stay up to date with this.
I prefer going to the Pumpkin Patch when there is minimal people so I opted to take the kids on a weekday when we had a few hours to spare.
We purchased the ticket package for $10 each and that included entrance to the pumpkin patch, a ride on the wagon around the farm and some time in the petting zoo.
We arrived there around 4pm and knowing that the farm would be closing at 6pm, we first headed to the wagon ride.
Often times, it is hard to get a full family picture because one member of the family is always taking the pictures (ME!). So what I do is, I ask families around us if they would like me to take a picture of their family. Then, in return they offer to take a picture of our family too.
We spent a full 30 minutes in the petting zoo. My three year old needed to touch each and every goat or sheep in there. She blessed each of them with the most beautiful smile.
This child knows no fear! She didn’t need my hand or her daddies to touch any of the animals. Surprisingly, none of the animals were scared of her warm and active nature.
There are crates filled with grass that the children can feed to the animals. Diyanah LOVED that!
How gorgeous is this little guy?
A simple squirt with the provided hand sanitizer and the animal smell was gone!
Next up was the corn maze.
We went around and around …
… until we got to the picture spot in the middle.
Then it was back around again!
My 3 year old loved climbing up and balancing on the hay stacks. She could have done that for a good thirty minutes if I just stood there.
There were so many gorgeous tractors for the children to take pictures with.Tanaka Farms Pumpkin Patch With Hello Kitty Afternoonhttp://bit.ly/2z3SsTTClick To Tweet
It is around this time when my eight year old princess, Aaliya, got randomly stung by a bee. Oh the panic you feel when something unexpected happens and certainly puts a damper on the excitement you were feeling. I don’t know how she got stung.. she was just walking… 🙁
Then she quickly began screaming from the pain. My husband is always quick to action and immediately pulled out the stinger. Then, we ran to one of the staff members to ask for some ice. I was overshadowed by mom guilt for most of the evening. “How could I not have protected her from the sting?!” Maybe she should have been walking right next to me instead of 5 steps behind me… I’ve written about mom guilt before. It never seems to get any easier. We just want our children to be happy, healthy and pain free. There was a lot of motherhood guilt make ups that evening. A fun trip to Yogurtland, a few extra chapters read at our bedtime read aloud time and an extra long bedtime cuddle that included the tightest of hugs and longest of forehead kisses.
My dear princess, if you only knew how much my heart hurt to see you in pain and to cry. I think out of all your siblings, you had been having the most fun during the afternoon thus far.
I guess I wasn’t the only one feeling sad for her.
Minus the bee sting, I’d say we each had a lot of fun. There were wonderful photo opportunities and it was a great day spent surrounded by nature. The Tanaka Farms Pumpkin Patch Orange County was a lot of fun and I can’t wait to go again and try their strawberry picking!
