- 2ย TBSPย Cream of Tartar
- 1 TBSP oil
- 1 cup Flour
- 1/4 cup salt
- Food Gel coloring
- 1 cup boiling water
One of the things I love most about this cooked playdough recipe is that it lasts for a long time even after you refrigerate it!
Directions:ย Add all the ingredients to a pot. We used a medium saucepan. Let your kids mix. They will also want to add the food coloring. The more color you add, the more vibrant your colors will be. Use about twice the amount of coloring as you think youโll need to get vibrant colors like ours. If you used unbleached flour, your playdough will also be a little less vibrant.

Once the ingredients are mixed, turn on your stove to a medium heat and keep stirring.
Within 3-5 minutes you will see the cream of tartar playdough start to separate into a ball. Donโt wait too long or your playdough will get hard and crumbly. But if you take it off too soon, your playdough will be sticky and a bit grainy. Find the right balance and your playdough will come out perfectly!

After removing from the heat, let the playdoh cool a bit, then knead it until it is soft and smooth. If the colors arenโt as bright as you would like, add a bit more food coloring and knead it into the dough.
Once the dough is completely cool, let the kids have it to play with! It really is the simplest cooked playdough recipe out there!

You can store this cooked playdough in the refrigerator in an air tight container for up to two months.
