The colored salt butterfly activity is a great activity that is not only a sensory experience(since the texture of the salt is rough on fingers) it is also great for fine motor skills.
Materials Needed: Colored Salt, Butterfly Coloring Page, Qtips, Glue.
I printed a Butterfly coloring page that I found online on cardstock(Any thick paper would work).
Since D is still young and cant color in the lines yet I colored in the middle of the butterfly.
Spread glue on the wing wher you want that particular color.
Sprinkle salt(Great for working on their pincer grasp). Don’t forget to shake off the excess salt before you start a new color.
Spread glue with qtip on to the next wing and sprinkle salt until you have covered all of the butterflies wings.
Since I only had 3 colors of salt we used blue twice.
I plan to cut the butterfly out and put it on D’s Bedroom door (although he doesnt sleep in his own room yet).

This is really beautiful! M loves doing similar things with colored sand, I'm betting he would love the salt too. Have you used sand for this type of activity too? I'm wondering if there is much of a difference. I'm guessing the salt probably "sparkles" a little bit more – ? Great post!!
