Fold and press on the part where the paint is so that the paint distributes evenly.

D actually tried this activity by himself first before I did the above butterfly with him.
He was very excited to watch this โmagicalโ painting.
โMama WOW lookโฆ see!!!โ
Then we tried to make a caterpillar.
Paint circles around one side of the paper for the caterpillar body.

We cut the paper in the middle and then taped it to the side.
Mama finds Kids find this activity fascinating.
Original tutorial for butterfly found here.
Have you tried this? or plan to? Please leave a link in the comments section with what you drew for this activity. Weโd love to do this again using different paintings.

Love both of these. The butterfly is very pretty and the caterpillars are too cute!
I want to do symmetrical drawings "one of those days". Anna is not particularly interested in painting, so it's hard to catch her in the mood. My idea (in addition to your very pretty butterfly) would be a Christmas tree or any other tree.
These turned out so nice! I'm saving this idea for us to do soon – thank you!
Great idea… I love the butterfly activity my little boy will love it.
Cute pictures.. thanks for the info
