Materials: Paint, Paint Brushes, Paper
Draw the butterfly body. It isn’t necessary to draw the wings, I just did it because I wasn’t sure how it would turn out without the wings so I tried it both ways.
Paint one side of the wing.
Fold and press on the part where the paint is so that the paint distributes evenly.
Open up and you should have two wings that look simlar.
D actually tried this activity by himself first before I did the above butterfly with him.
He was very excited to watch this ‘magical’ painting.
“Mama WOW look… see!!!”
Then we tried to make a caterpillar.
Paint circles around one side of the paper for the caterpillar body.
Close. Press on paper. Open up.
Draw legs and a face. You can leave it as is but I thought it would be nice to have a nice long caterpillar.
We cut the paper in the middle and then taped it to the side.
Now we had two caterpillars.

Love both of these. The butterfly is very pretty and the caterpillars are too cute!
I want to do symmetrical drawings "one of those days". Anna is not particularly interested in painting, so it's hard to catch her in the mood. My idea (in addition to your very pretty butterfly) would be a Christmas tree or any other tree.
