CVC Short A Play dough Mats

These CVC Short A Playdough Mats are my daughter’s favorite way to practice CVC words. She literally can’t get enough. Check out all of the CVC Words and activities.

Do your kids love play dough like mine? I enjoy that play dough is entertaining for kids but it also has a number of benefits. Not only is play dough a fantastic sensory activity for kids it is also an engaging way to encourage children to learn and practice different areas of learning, like CVC words.

CVC SHORT A PLAYDOUGH MATS

Kids will enjoy learning their CVC Short A words with these fun playdough mats that can be used in a variety of ways.

Here are some items that pair well with these activities. You will use each of these items over and over during all my printable preschool activity packs.

This CVC Short A Playdough Mats printable pack contains 41 pages of printable mats.

In this printable pack, children will be introduced to the Short A sound. This pack includes the following CVC word sounds including ab, ad, ag, am, an, ap, at, and ax.

These playdough mat sets come in both black and white as well as color. This is helpful if you are printing at school and are color printing restricted or if you are just trying to save ink.

Each of the playdough mats contains three activities:

Read the word ~ Here the word is written in solid print. This is great for helping children learn to read and say the word.

Write the word ~ In this area of the playdough mat, children can use a lead pencil, crayon, marker or a dry erase marker (if laminated) to practice writing the word.

Build the word ~This is where the children can use playdough to build the word. They could also use things like buttons or pom poms to build the word as well. If the mats have been laminated, they could practice tracing the word with a dry erase marker.

The CVC Playdough Mats includes approximately 152 CVC words. The pack includes short a, e, i, o, u words. Each Set of mats includes a color copy as well as a black and white set. You can use the words with play dough or other manipulatives.
