Spring Alphabet Printable Matching Game
This alphabet activity is perfect for your learners to practice and get a hands-on learning experience with their alphabet recognition.
The printable includes flower alphabet which consists of the alphabet letters within the flowers. There are a total of 6 mats included, of which 3 are for the lowercase letters while the other 3 are for the uppercase letters.
Since the printable is an alphabet matching activity, it includes matching alphabet cards as well. These alphabet cards come in a flower theme as well, and are both in lowercase and uppercase.

- Laminator
- Scissors
- Transparent velcro dots
- Movable alphabet letters (uppercase and lowercase)
To Prep for the Alphabet Learning Activity
Get the free alphabet learning printable at the end of this post.
Print the alphabet mats and laminate if desired.
Print the alphabet cards and laminate. Cut apart to create the alphabet cards.
If you would like to use this activity for a preschooler, attach velcro dots onto the alphabet mats and the back of the cards.
This will allow the learner to stick the cards onto the mats without having the frustration of pieces moving around. Using transparent velcro dots are more suited since it will not cover the letters underneath.
Using the Flower Alphabet Mats with your Learners
Present the alphabet mats to the learner. Choose either uppercase or lowercase mats or a combination of both.
Present the learners with the alphabet cards for the matching activity. Choose which alphabet recognition you would like your learner to
This activity can be done in a few ways.
- Lowercase alphabet mats with lowercase letters.
- UPPERCASE alphabet mats with uppercase letters.
- Lowercase alphabet mats with UPPERCASE letters.
- UPPERCASE alphabet mats with lowercase letters.
Depending on the activity, the learner will match the flower alphabet cards or letters to the flowers on the alphabet mats based on the letters. This is a very simple activity that your learners are sure to love. This fun, hands-on and engaging alphabet activity is perfect for your preschoolers and kindergarteners.
This activity can be made into a file folder or busy binder game for your little learner. Stick the alphabet mats onto a file folder, and store the alphabet cards in a ziplock card for easy storage. This will promote a sense of independence for your learners which is very beneficial for your learners.
Alternatively, to present some variety to the activity, mix up lowercase and uppercase alphabet cards and the movable letters and let the leaners match it onto the mat. This will present a slightly more challenging activity which is sure to engage your learner.
You can also add some fun flower crafts or have them add some seeds to a flower pot for even more learning fun. This is a great idea for spring crafts or to complement a garden theme.
