The May 2017 Koala Crate Friendship and Feelings was filled with fun and unique activities for my 3 year old and my 7 year old too. Grab the promo or coupon code below. You might be wondering if siblings can share one Kiwi Crate box (in this case, a Koala Crate box). You can see how my kids share the box. Koala Crate Friendship and Feelings Box
Here is what was included in our box this month as well as our thoughts on it.
Activity #1: Funny Face Puppets Game
Not only did my 3 year old create fun puppets, she also got to play a game while building the faces. She learned more about taking her turn, then waiting for the next person to have their turn before going again. She was very patient.
During each turn your child spins the spinner and follows the direction. (For example, add the eyes, add the nose, add a mouth, etc.)
Your face can be happy or sad, it doesn’t matter.
Parent involvement level: Since this was a two player game I had to be involved here. When I wasn’t involved then my two girls did this together.
Activity #2: Feelings Poster
Here your child can use the provided marker to create faces that represent different emotions like happy, silly, scared, surprised, angry, or even create their own face. Plus its got a mirror so the child can make faces using their own emotions. She could also copy the facial expressions with her own face.
Parent involvement: Minimal… I just needed to explain the concept to my 3 year old and she was on her own thereafter.
Activity #3: Friendship Bracelets
This activity was great for those fine motor skills. Plus my little girls LOVED the bracelets they created and wore it for days after.
First you thread the wooden beads onto the included dowel.
Then you paint.
Wait for it to dry. It dried within 5 minutes.
Then thread it onto the included elastic.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much BOTH my girls enjoyed this. The 7 year old didn’t need my help. I really thought the 3 year old wouldn’t find this interesting or that it may be too hard for her attention span. When she saw her sister painting and putting the bracelet together she was so eager to try it out.
I love seeing my girls work together. I especially love it when my older daughter takes on this teaching role.
Parent involvement: For the 3 year old she needed guidance from her sister. If her sister wasn’t there then I would definitely need to be helping out. My 7 year old didn’t need any help.
