Gingerbread Theme for Kids
Gingerbread is a beloved holiday treat. The kids are always up for a gingerbread-themed activity! We read a few Gingerbread books, used these Gingerbread House Coloring Pages during calm down time and these Gingerbread Clip Cards as a fun indoor activity to practice math skills. Gingerbread Activities and Centers
You’ll find tons of gingerbread man activities in this pack for a fun gingerbread unit. Don’t worry, we also included a cute gingerbread woman/girl too, not just a gingerbread man! There really is a gingerbread treat for everyone.
Gingerbread Literacy Activities
1. Alphabet Hunt– Trace the letter, then find the upper case and lowercase letters hidden in the gumdrops. Tracing has many benefits and is an easy way to foster pre-writing and improve dexterity.
3. Alphabet Puzzles– Match the gingerbread house picture to the matching letter. Encourage sensory play by hiding one set in a sensory bin.
5. CVC Word Cards– Solve the CVC word by adding the missing first letter to the word. You can also ask kids to identify the picture first.
2. Alphabet Matching Houses– Match the uppercase letter to the lowercase letter to build the house. Matching games are a fun way to improve memory and enhance cognitive development. This is a good brain booster!
4. Sight Word Winter– Find the sight words, then match the snowflake sight words to the page.
6. Gingerbread in Disguise Who Am I?– Read the clues to solve who the gingerbread is dressed up as. This activity helps develop problem-solving skills.
Gingerbread Math Activities
7. Addition Clip Cards– Identify the gingerbread number at the top of the card. Then clip the equations that match the number. Keep it simple and use a clothespin.
11. Color Matching– Match pom poms or colored candy to the correct color card. This is an easy way to help the kids learn their colors.
8. Counting Mats– Identify the gingerbread number at the top. Then, find the number and add the same number of candy pieces to the house. Candy can also be swapped out for any manipulatives.
