Today we did a paint resist painting activity.
Materials Required:
- Card stock paper (or non absorbent paper)
- White Candle (or white crayon)
- Water Colors
- Paint Brush
- Small amount of water for the water colors.
My helpful son, D, helped me get our table and chairs ready while I secretly drew pictures onto the card stock paper using the white candle.
All you need to do is use your water colors to paint on the picture and the image will magically appear. The candle will resist the paint and leave the outline visible.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that A(my toddler) enjoyed this activity as well.
I cut up the A4 size paper into 4 pieces to make it more kid friendly.
This activity can be even sweeter if Daddy writes a message to his kids using the candle before work. When Mama does the activity with the kids the message their dad left them is revealed.
This activity would also be great at a childs birthday party during a scavenger hunt! Write your clues on the card stock and have the children guess where the secret item is by using the magic clues.
The possibilities are endless!
I love it – the ideas are endless:) I wish I could see the missing photo:) Perhaps it is my computer!
Hi Deborah! It’s always great to have you here and your comments always make me smile! 🙂
I refreshed my screen a few times and all the pictures are loading for me. Maybe if you refresh your screen it should work itself out. Which picture is it that isn’t loading? 🙂
I appreciated you too:) I can see ALL the photos now – I think it was just me!
By the way, I gave this over to my school today because they are doing a week on Secret Agent Spies. We changed it up just a little to fit their theme but they are going to use your idea for finding secret codes! Cool!
I Love this..they both look like they had a great time! 🙂 enjoy this special time! great bonding! 🙂 <3
What fun! I tell my kids it’s magic =o)
