Dolch Pre Primer Sight Words Worksheets
Sight words are words that children need to memorise as they usually can’t be sounded out or they contain a silent letter. They are also words that are used over and over in our english language. You would be pleaseantly surprised to know that children can learn sight words as young as the age of 3. This is the first printable pack in our sight words series and contains some fun sight word activities to help your child quickly learn the pre-primer sight words.
Don’t forget to check out all of our Dolch Sight Words worksheets.

Here are some items that pair well with these activities. You will use each of these items over and over during all my printable preschool activity packs.
- Card stock (to print everything out on.)
- Color Pencils, Crayons or Markers
- Lead Pencils
- Highlighter
For the alphabet letter box – you can find how to make an alphabet letter box here. We love using our All About Spelling Letter Magnets for this and absolutely LOVE the All About Spelling program. I am not homeschooling but I do use it after school. You can purchase the Letter Magnets separately or with the package. It is my favorite way to teach spelling and has really improved my kids spelling work.
Or you could use:
- Magnetic Letters
- Wooden Letters (I used these in this post)
- Learning Resources Lacing Letters Uppercase and Lowercase (Love these for so many different uses!)
- Storage container for alphabet letters
Turn these worksheets into a book to give your child or students. I have included a set of colored copies as well as a set of black and white worksheets for those who would like to save on ink.
This Sight Words Printable pack contains over 90 pages of fun and learning.
Included in this sight words worksheets pdf pack are both color and black and white copies of a number of pages. The colourful pages are bright and cheery, though to save on printing and copying costs, a black and white version has been added. Children can add color to these if they desire.
First, in the pack is a checklist that contains all the words that are being learnt in this pack. I recommend laminating this list and using a dry-erase marker to tick off the sight words as your child learns them.
This is then followed by a Read, Build and Write the word page that goes great with the flashcards. There is a flashcard for each word that I recommend laminating for durability. I also printed out two copies of these pages, so that these cards could be used in memory and matching games.
Following the flashcards is the ‘Sight Word of the Day’ pages. There are two pages for each word. Practice learning the sight word using the following activities:
- Color the sight word worksheet
- Finding the sight word
- Tracing the word
- Highlighting the word
- Cut and paste the sight word word
- Write the word
- Fill in the Missing Letter
- Find the word in a sentence
- Use the word in a sentence
- Box the sight word
- Clap the word to find out how many syllables are in each word.
Another fun way to practice sight words is with this Beach Sight Word Printable Pack.
