About the 100th Day of School
The 100th day of school is a fun, celebratory day to mark going to school for 100 days or half of the school year! It may differ based on where you live, but it’s usually sometime between mid-January and February.
The day highlights kids’ achievements and is used to enhance various math skills. It’s a great idea to have a ‘100th Week’ theme and do various math activities, along with these themed color by number pages which target color and number recognition.
This activity is easy, suitable for all ages, and requires minimal prep! Simply grab your free PDF at the bottom of the post, print and it’s ready to be used.

These pages are complementary to any lesson plan, works well as a math center, and can used at home or in the classroom. Included in the PDF are:
- 9 individual images– Each is a unique image designed to inspire a different theme or invoke a different feeling about the 100 days of school passing by. Images include crowns, balloons, cake, and more.
- 4 pages with 2 images per page– This is suitable for older kids as the images are smaller to color in. It can work well if you’d like to save paper or need to cut the worksheets in half for a bigger group.
- A crayon color guide– This page has crayons that have been labeled and colored in with the correct color. For younger kids, cut out these crayons and paste onto the coloring pages to replace the black and white crayons.
- An answer key– This is a great idea if you have younger kids or you want the kids to follow along. Some kids prefer for the hidden picture to be a mystery whilst others like to have a guide.
These DIY Melted Crayon Shapes, DIY Crayon Letter Names, and Fun Crayons Art are great complementary activities that you can try out as well using broken crayons.
Let’s look at some class favorites!
There are many images to choose from. These have a celebratory theme and you’ll see candles, cake, the number ‘100’, crowns and different people celebrating. Our kids make us proud and their efforts deserve to be acknowledged!
The instructions are simple: color in the number according to the crayon guide. This activity improves number recognition, color recognition, helps kids follow directions, and sparks curiosity.
Use different materials like color pencils, crayons, markers, or even watercolors. Different materials create different textures. You can also add texture by using stickers, pom poms, glitter, or anything you have.
These pages can also be laminated and colored in with dry-erase markers. This works well if you want to use it again next year. Don’t forget that you can re-use the answer key too!
Older kids tend to be more adventurous so let them turn this activity into a puzzle. Simply cut out the pieces and to recreate the image. My oldest loved this idea! The pieces can be hidden in a sensory bin to encourage hands-on sensory play and include younger children.
Once complete, the pictures can be displayed on a wall, fridge, or bulletin board.

Happy 100 Days! This day is not only to celebrate the kids but also our teachers and family members who share the journey. From school runs to lesson prep, it’s no easy feat. Celebrate yourself and why not try your hand at this activity too! It’s not just for the kids.
Some tips:
- If you have younger kids who cannot read the color word, simply make a mark with the color next to the number or use the crayon color guide page.
- Use these as worksheets for early finishers or quiet time.
- Bind it into a book and let the kids keep it in a memory box! The kids can add a special touch by writing down something that they enjoyed, loved, were inspired by, or were proud of in the last 100 days. This positive reinforcement works wonders! Kids engage more and display confidence and good behavior after these kinds of activities.
- Another idea is to have the kids write down a goal that they want to achieve in the next 100 days.
