How to Use this Summer Scavenger Hunt for Kids
Doing this summer scavenger hunt for kids really couldn’t be easier. Print the geted file on regular computer paper or, for added stability, use cardstock. You could even make this page extra durable (and reusable!) by laminating it.
After all, you’re going to be toting it around the great outdoors, so it’s not a bad idea to have a little extra protection.
Now comes the fun part! Join your kiddos on an adventure to find as many of the listed summer items as possible. Each one is a quintessential part of summer which will not only help familiarize your child with the season but makes them super easy to find.
As a result, this summer scavenger hunt for kids is perfect for younger kids, but older kids and (even adults!) enjoy it as well. If you do choose to use with for older kids or adults, try setting a time limit for an extra challenge. Whoever finds the most items before the clock runs out WINS!
Free Summer Scavenger Hunt Tips
When an item is found, don’t forget to check it off the list. You can use markers or a pen (if you chose to laminate your summer scavenger hunt for kids, a dry erase marker is a great option), or summer-themed stickers. Have your little one try sounding out each word before you check it off.
You could even ask follow-up questions such as, “What is your favorite flavor of popsicle,” or “How big was the biggest sand castle you ever made?”
This will help your child with recall, spatial awareness, and more!
Although many (if not all!) of the listed items can be found in or near your home, try taking your kiddo to a few specific destinations. Some ideas are neighborhood parks and pools, the beach, waterparks, and splash pads.
This will not only get them up and out of the house but will help ensure they find every single item on their list.
